The “Other” Arabians of Ahi Lio

Simply put, the breeding philosophy of Ahi Lio Arabians stems from the idea of building upon the sound foundations of the Arabian breed to develop a horse of great beauty, calm mind and above all, athleticism.  At Ahi Lio, we do not try to “re-invent the wheel”, instead we have gathered the bloodlines that have stood the test of time.  Our program honors the generations of wisdom brought to the Arabian from the likes of the Crabbet Stud, the Gaineys and Dr. Bill Munson.

The primary focus of Ahi Lio Arabians is producing the superior endurance  athlete.  By “superior”, we mean a horse that has highly functional conformation, structural strength, natural stamina, and the temperament that would allow him to “sleep in your tent” as the Bedouins once demanded of their own horses.  Remember, an endurance horse should be an enjoyable companion for a 100 mile race and all the training that comes with it!  In addition to all this, Ahi Lio demands that our horses possess that classic Arabian beauty to which your friends will say “WOW"

In the effort to achieve this goal, much time, thought and effort have gone into creating our foundation herd.  The matriarch of Ahi Lio Arabians is the beautiful Gainey-bred mare, Kaseray  Graceful, feminine and a natural athlete, she honored us by producing our senior stallion, Alii Makani and his full sister Leea before retiring to take command of the broodmare herd.  She is truly the epitome of Arabian type-beautiful, correct and loving!
